  1. Changes in social norms and values were always going to reduce the importance of the nuclear family – western societies have developed means by which non-nuclear families can exist more positively than previously.

  2. Although I generally agree with the Marxist view of the family, I think it misses the love that can be shared by close family members. Most people like family.
