Free sociology revision games for AQA students: arcade, dance, puzzle and sports games on the sociological perspectives, education, families, crime and deviance and research methods.

They’re short, and they work best after you’ve read the notes on a topic, as a quick check of what has stuck. Each game opens in a new tab. If one misbehaves on your phone, try it on a laptop.

By Karl Thompson, who taught A-level sociology for eighteen years and spent twelve as an AQA examiner, marking all three papers on the current specification.

Perspectives and theory games

Games on the main sociological perspectives and the sociologists behind them. Theory and Methods is mostly tested on Paper 3 and also on Paper 1, so these are worth playing whichever module you’re revising.

Education games

Education is on Paper 1 (7192/1).

The education decathlon

Choose a sociologist, grab your player passport and take on ten Education revision events. Answer questions, compete for points and carry the same player from the 100 m to the 1500 m. Your best saved result in each event builds your overall total. Revisit events to improve, or compare your scores on the public leaderboard.

Families games

Families and Households is on Paper 2 (7192/2).

Crime and Deviance games

Crime and Deviance is on Paper 3 (7192/3).

Research Methods games

Research methods are tested on Paper 3 and Paper 1, and in the Methods in Context question on Paper 1.
